Reed High School

Class of 2017

As a first generation college student, I have been enjoying every second of this new chapter in my life. My parents did not have the opportunity to attend college, therefore I am lucky to be setting the example for my younger siblings and to have my parents supporting me every step of the way.

During my senior year, I had the opportunity to serve as our JAG Senior Vice-President. I am forever grateful for this opportunity, as it has opened several doors for me and prepared me greatly for my future. The JAG program provided me with the necessary tools I needed to be successful and allowed me to feel supported during my transition into college. When JAG sent me to Washington D.C., I was excited to represent my state of Nevada by coming home with a 1st place award in the Employability Skills competition. In April, I was able to attend the Career Development Conference in Las Vegas, NV. After coming home with a 1st place award in the Public Speaking competition, I once again realized the incredible impact that the JAG program had on me and my ability to do well in different aspects of my life in order to be successful.

I am currently working at Starbucks part-time, while going to school full-time at the University of Nevada, Reno. It was early in the semester when I realized I had a passion for something else and chose to change my major. I am now studying to be an Immigration Lawyer, in hopes of helping to make a change while still impacting the lives of many. I am looking forward to growing and learning as I see all that my future has to offer!
