A Sydney Prize is an award that honors those working hard to better the world. These national-level recognitions can go to writers, scientists or anyone making an impactful contribution – they provide an excellent way to both reward them for their efforts and encourage others to join. As there are various kinds of sidney prizes available it is wise to do your research prior to applying.

There are various Sydney Prizes that can be awarded, and each one has its own specific criteria for consideration. Some aim to recognize community service while others aim to invigorate students into working harder at school; still others aim at encouraging women in engineering while yet more honor those who have made significant contributions to humanity.

As well as these awards, Sydney also awards prizes that span science and the arts. One such prize is the Sydney Peace Prize which recognizes individuals who have taken action to protect human rights or promote peace with others – this year Black Lives Matter took home this accolade after George Zimmerman was found not guilty in killing unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin; other recipients include Julian Burnside and Noam Chomsky.

Sydney Prize offers another scholarship specifically targeted toward female engineers: the Sydney Engineering Prize is a scholarship with up to A$50,000 available to encourage more women into engineering, helping them realise their dreams. Scholarship funds may be used for study, research or professional development purposes as well as travel or other expenses incurred while fulfilling them.

The Neilma Sidney Short Story Prize provides young writers an excellent way to gain recognition for their writing. Hosted by Overland magazine and the Neilma Sydney Foundation, it welcomes undergraduate students. The winner will receive a generous cash prize as well as having their short story published in Overland magazine.

Kate Carrie Sydney Prize for History is an annual award that recognizes the best non-fiction book in Australian history, selected by an editorial panel including historians from University of Melbourne. Previous winners have included Tim Flannery (author of book about Australian cricket) and Malcolm Fraser biographer who both received this honour in late October each year.

Writing awards available to Australian writers go beyond just the Sidney Prize. Examples of awards available to writers in Australia are the Kate Carrie Sydney Prize for History awarded annually by Overland magazine and Neilma Carrie Foundation; this can provide young writers with an excellent opportunity to showcase their work while motivating them further in their writing careers. There are also various online writing competitions such as Overland Short Story Prize.
