Young HK Prize Winners Announced

As well as receiving a cash prize, winners of this award will also have an opportunity to attend a STEAM Mentorship session and discuss their ideas and research findings with an established expert in their field. Afterward, their learnings can be shared widely on Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Network’s STIP platform.

The award is open to university-level Hong Kong students studying STEAM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), providing them an opportunity to unleash their creative imagination, develop problem-solving abilities and contribute to society through innovative research. Winners will receive a cash prize of HK$10,000 as well as certificates recognizing their efforts as well as participate in a BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize briefing session session to present their research results.

Organised by Centum Charitas Foundation, Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education and Council of Hong Kong Laureate Forum, Young HK Prize is an exciting initiative designed to uncover and nurture exceptional students with an appetite for innovation, problem-solving and creativity. This year’s theme – Hong Kong’s unique historical status: honor and disgrace”.

Students entering this competition must submit a research report on ‘Hong Kong’s Unique Historical Status – Honour and Disgrace’. Judges will judge submissions according to relevance to theme, depth and accuracy of research conducted, use of collected materials collected for analysis as well as its objectivity in presentation.

HKF is one of Hong Kong’s most prominent film events and one of Asia’s second-largest, with over HK$100 million awarded as prizes. Endorsed by all major professional film organizations and held annually since 2003, its reputation spans worldwide; the judging panel comprises representatives from thirteen local film bodies.

The jury of the HK Prize will choose five nominees as finalists to compete for this year’s award, which will be revealed during a ceremony held mid-May. The award ceremony is hosted in collaboration with the Hong Kong Institute of Financial Services and it’s an immense privilege for winners to accept their prizes at this prestigious event. Established by HKFIA in 1994, The HK Prize remains one of Hong Kong’s premier prizes. Initialy known as the Hong Kong International Cultural Communication Award until 2000 when its name was changed to Hong Kong Fidelity Investment Award (HKFIA), this non-profit organisation relies solely on donations and subscriptions for funding. HKFIA is administered by a board of directors that includes representatives from thirteen professional film bodies in Hong Kong. There are no political or other affiliations among its board of directors members; instead, the HK Prize is supported by the Hong Kong Film Development Fund as well as receiving generous donations over time – over 60 Million has been received over 10 years.
