The Singapore Prize is a national award that recognizes those for their outstanding contributions to society, inducing others to follow in their footsteps and contribute in various forms. Winners receive a S$200,000 cheque as well as lifetime membership to the exclusive Singapore Golf Club.
Winners also enjoy free round of golf and exclusive tournament hospitality at the clubhouse, along with using a golf cart, bag, shoes and having priority access to its restaurant/bar.
Apart from the Singapore prize, Singapore also hosts numerous other awards and prizes that honor individuals for making significant contributions to both their community and world. One such prize is Harvard Prize Book Singapore which recognizes individuals for making notable contributions both locally and globally.
Singapore Literature Prize recognizes writers for works of literary merit written in any one of Singapore’s four official languages: English, Chinese, Malay or Tamil and covers various genres and subgenres.
Established in 2014 as part of Professor Kishore Mahbubani’s NUS SG50 programme to commemorate Singapore’s 50th anniversary, this prize is administered by the NUS Department of History and judges are expected to consider all works that contribute significantly to our understanding of national history.
Earthshot Week will present the prize, coinciding with the United Nations Climate Summit COP28 in November, as a series of events to accelerate innovation, scale support, optimism and opportunities for youth according to Ms Jones. Earthshot was founded as a response to research indicating young people were struggling with climate anxiety leading to depression or inaction on environmental matters.
Owing to their environment’s severe impacts, business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, and global citizens living there face severe climate impacts. At this event, business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, and global citizens will come together to share ideas and explore potential solutions to some of Earth’s most pressing problems. Temasek Trust provides both financial support and investment expertise; GenZero decarbonisation investment platform facilitates decarbonisation investments; non-profit environmental organization Conservation International provides non-profit environmental advocacy; Standard Chartered Bank provides banking support. Singapore was chosen due to its leadership in innovation, investments, urban planning and green growth initiatives. Singapore will host the inaugural Asia-Pacific Eco-Challenge competition; designed to find solutions for some of humanity’s toughest problems – up to S$50,000 will be made available for top ten competitors to secure funding plus mentoring/learning sessions with prize jury.
